ABOUT ZACH
ZACH HAMMILL is an award-winning screenwriter, editor and director from Minnesota with almost 20 years in the entertainment industry.
His screenwriting has been honored by the Austin Film Festival as a Second Rounder and by FilmNorth as a recipient of the IFP McKnight Artist Fellowship for Screenwriting, which is Minnesota’s most prestigious and coveted creative film grant (Minnesota’s equivalent of the Nicholl Fellowship).
Zach really cut his filmmaking teeth in post production on big network TV shows like Steven Spielberg’s TERRA NOVA, A&E’s BATES MOTEL, and Seth MacFarlane’s Emmy-winning COSMOS: A SpaceTime Odyssey, hosted by Neil deGrasse Tyson.
Zach’s background as a New York-trained actor at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) and as an Los Angeles-trained screenwriter through Writers Boot Camp helped develop his voice as a writer/director of sad comedies, funny dramas, and genre films as an excuse to explore lovely weirdos and issues that move him.
Zach has lived and worked in New York, LA and now Minneapolis, where he both serves as the Multimedia Producer at Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church, and as a member of the Minnesota Film Critics Association, where he writes film reviews for his blog Movie Friend.
OTHER FUN ZACH FACTS:
Zach loves his family, his house, his dog, cigars, his purple glasses, Thai food, Popeye the Sailor, pinball and CAKE (the band… and occasionally the food).
